I wanted to talk to a girl so I gave my friend $5 and he could keep it if I didn't do it. That's not quite the total that you wrote, but it still worked. I talked to her and started up a conversation. Admittedly, it only lasted for about a minute. That's all it took though and a few weeks later I was talking to girls all over the place and didn't need to give people the money.
